For Backrooms, Kobby Adi presents Canaries, a project consisting of two works: no title, 2022–2023 and Birdsong, 2023.

no title is a silent 16mm film transferred to Medical Grade DVD (DVD for medical data maintenance). It has been loaned to Kunsthalle Zürich by the artist for an indefinite period of time and can be viewed on request in the basement of the building.

Birdsong consists of the sound of birdsong in the Voliere Gesellschaft Zürich aviary and bird sanctuary. This work is located off-site at Mythenquai 1, and will be live for an indefinite period of time.

Birdsong, 2023

Open: Tuesday–Sunday, 10am–12pm / 2pm–4pm

For the inauguration of the intervention by Kobby Adi, we will meet at 3pm at the Voliere Gesellschaft Zürich and go to Kunsthalle Zürich at 4pm. The opening event also offers the opportunity to see the site-specific installation The Descent by Lauryn Youden.

The project is part of Backrooms, a Kunsthalle Zürich curatorial programme organised by Otto Bonnen.
