Where The Energy Comes From / The Sex In Painting

At the core of Kunsthalle Zürich's practice lies the discourse with contemporary artists, including its expansion with guests from various fields. This expansion will be literalized in a special twin pack for this exhibition: A lecture by Jana Euler, on experience and experiment in painting, will be followed by a conversation with art theorist Kerstin Stakemeier; a lecture by Kerstin Stakemeier, about the question of sex in painting, will be followed by a conversation with the artist - both to be expanded by the audience. Together we want to discuss how the subjects and signifiers of an image work in accordance to its physical economies of production, presentation, and social relationships today.
