Löwenbräu Kunst AG

The council of the City of Zurich agreed to become a shareholder in the company Löwenbräu Kunst AG in March 2011. Löwenbräu Kunst AG, which is owned equally by the Kunsthalle Zürich Foundation, Migros-Genossenschafts-Bund and the City of Zurich, was established in May 2011.
Löwenbräu Kunst AG has acquired parts of the Löwenbräu complex with renovated old and new buildings from the previous owner, PSP Swiss Property AG, and will rent accommodation on a long-term basis to existing and new tenants from the art scene, one of which is Kunsthalle Zürich.

Thanks to the acquisition of the art complex by Löwenbräu Kunst AG, the work of these resident institutions and private galleries can be guaranteed on a long-term basis through reasonable rental conditions for all partners.

In order to finance its third of the share capital in Löwenbräu Kunst AG, the Kunsthalle Zürich needs to raise CHF 9 million Swiss Francs and a further CHF 3.5 million for the construction and conversion of its premises.

We would like to thank the members of the city council and citizens of Zurich for the considerable support provided and also the other parties involved in Löwenbräu Kunst AG, i.e. the representatives of the City of Zurich and the Migros-Genossenschafts-Bund, for their enormous commitment and valuable cooperation.
